why did he leave in the first place?

I don't think DL and Cammalleri saw eye to eye.

They did not, this deal would really surprise. Though I think 2 of his goals scored this year helped beat the Kings twice. It might be a good deal simply to stop having him go into Ovie goal scoring mode every time we play Calgary. Patrick Sharp and Cammy are King killers.

What return? Outside of the kings Core who would they be willing to move that is enough value? Toffoli would be alright but knowing Burke he's going to want size, eliminating Toffoli. They don't have a lot of prospects and they aren't going to move a guy from their core for a rental. A trade to LA (all relationship issues aside) would only make sense for L.A.

Who? Who do you think? Should be a market for this guy, especially if we eat half the cap hit to the end of the year.

Sure why not Cammy to LA. Don't Caps need more scoring on their second line? Anyway, let's discuss moving Gio. If Burke is as he says,"impatient," with the rebuild, the player the Flames could get the most for is Gio? At least a 1st rounder or top six forward with size, skill etc...package Gio up...If Flames are in a rebuild, then be all in, be bold. Trade Gio now with his value at close to maximum???

Probably not going to get Toffoli for a rental given the last contract issue the Kings had with Cammy that caused parting of the ways. Don't think Cammy would sign back here after the season, but then again if he is willing to come back to L.A., might be a moot point.

I think I would trade for the other ex-King, Moulson in terms of having a goal scorer who might sign long term after the season given that his wife and Quick's wife are sisters. (Assume they get along )

Clearly the Kings are left wing poor because the let all their good left wings go via trade or free agency.

He's the only solid dependable d-man Calgary has. Look at the oilers, what are they looking for? A top line d-man. Gio shouldn't and most likely isn't going anywhere

If I'm not mistaken, we were too close to the cap to give both Cammalleri and Bouwmeester a +5 million dollar contract. Bouw had just been acquired, agreed to a 6 million dollar contract on a golf course and Cammalleri went on to score 13 goals in the playoffs the following season for the Habs.

That was also when the Kings core was still young and learning how to win. The core has now matured a lot and Lombardi has stated that he's not worried about putting a disturbance, if you will, in with this team. I believe it was also when Cammalleri was asking for a lot of money coming off a disappointing season as well.
I also believe that Cammalleri has matured enough. Add Cammalleri and you can reunite the Brown/Kopi/Williams line and go with a Cammalleri/Richards/Carter 2nd line. That is a solid 1-2 punch for the 1st two lines. Or put Cammalleri with Kopi and Williams and Brown down with Richards & Carter.

Impatient ya', but not stupid.

Oilers went "all in" and are now preaching patience. How about patience without the complete kablooey. Goo goes nowhere right now.

Couldn't think of a better veteran to impart lessons on not giving up. Gio went undrafted, improved his play (while not giving up as an undrafted OHL veteran) enough to get signed, got told there wasn't a spot for him on the team, took his game to the K (slayed some hot eastern euro a$$), earned himself a 3rd pairing spot following his return, worked on his game until he became our best defenseman, and now is a couple injuries away from an Olympic roster spot.

What could we possibly get that would be more valuable? If we trade all of our players like that we're going to flounder like the Oilers have.

I would be shocked, considering the bad terms he and the team parted on.

I don't know about that. Just a guess, but I would think Dean would be more apt to try to reacquire Moulson before Cammalleri.

Why not? Everybody knows Cammy can score. He's a pure goal scorer who can work well with a plethora of players and if Calgary eats 3 million in cap hit then you get a top 6, possibly even top 3 (depending on the team and situation) player at a steal of a price.

I'm not saying Cammy gets you the world but at the same time, for a team looking to go far in the playoffs, I bet he gets a better return than Iggy did no problem.
